Philosophy of Education

(An excerpt)

There are 7 essential qualifications of a great educator.  You must have:

1)     A vision that encompasses the world;

2)     A knowledge of the heart of man;

3)     Mastery of the subject/s taught;

4)     Aptness in teaching;

5)     A life that embodies the teaching;

6)     Effectiveness in teaching in a God-pleasing way; and

7)     A teachable spirit.

We desire more than gaining attention.  We are committed to changing lives.

Doctrinal Statements

WE BELIEVE that the Holy Scriptures are the inspired, infallible Word of God, written by holy men of old as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

WE BELIEVE in one God Who is infinite in power, holy in nature, attributes, and purposes, as well as all knowing and present everywhere, all at the same time.  WE BELIEVE that He was revealed to us as Father in creation, as Son in redemption, and as Holy Spirit Who never leaves those who continue to trust in Him.

WE BELIEVE in the virgin birth.  Jesus was both human and divine.  He was God, manifested in the flesh.

WE BELIEVE in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.  WE BELIEVE that He ascended on high and sent His Spirit, the Holy Ghost, which was poured out at Jerusalem approximately 2000 years ago, and it is that same Spirit that is filling the hearts of those who diligently seek and obey Him today.

WE BELIEVE in Baptism in water by immersion, for the remission of sins, in the Name of the Father, Son, & Holy Ghost, and that name is Jesus Christ.  WE BELIEVE in the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, speaking in/with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance.

WE BELIEVE in a Holy, Sanctified Life.  WE BELIEVE in divine healing, communion, and feet washing.  WE BELIEVE in the glorious catching away of the saints when Jesus returns in the clouds to take His people to be with Him forever.

WE BELIEVE that JESUS is the only saving Name... and whatsoever you do in Word or Deed, must be done in the Name of the Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Our Board of Directors and Advisors

Footsteps of Jesus Christ has Spirit guided and Spirit filled servants of Jesus Christ serving on its Board of Directors.  Though not a paid entity, they are a professional group of advisors which will assure that its components are fulfilling all the requirements necessary for a successful overall ministry that God can be well pleased with.

Spiritual Life

Realizing the need for daily renewal of the inner man, FOJC seeks to provide the resources and an atmosphere in which the serious students of the Word of God can grow spiritually.

Bishop & Dr. Hulsey took turns opening up the weekly Sunday services with praise, prayer, Scripture reading, testimonies, special music, the ministry of the Word of God, giving of tithes and offerings, bowing down to worship, providing a time to sing, pray, reflect upon one's relationship with God, and prepare the saints of God and visitors for their week of learning, revelation, and spiritual growth and renewal.  These services also offer training in spiritual leadership.   Since Bishop's illness, Dr. Hulsey preaches weekly, accompanied by one of our beloved Elders, Pastor Erica R. Lewis, twice monthly.  We are blessed to have Bishop still as a participant in the service.  Amen.

Footsteps of Jesus Christ inlcudes in our services, the unique spoken Word, and features the gift of vocal music that God has given to Dr. Hulsey and the gospel music ministries "The Elect Lady & Her Children" and "Footsteps of Jesus Christ Music Ministry."

Dress Code

The new testament reference to holy apparel is located in I. Timothy 2:9, which says...

     "In like manner also (like as a man), that women adorn (dress) themselves in modest (decent) apparel, with shamefacedness (afraid of her body being exposed) and sobriety (alertness);..."

Christian men and women should dress in a manner which exposes their dignity, not their flesh.  There is also nothing in this passage that speaks against the type of material, such as jeans, or T-shirts.  Aware though that a T-shirt is underwear, and there are some that have writing on them and are meant to be seen, FOJC is asking that another undergarment be worn underneath to give the outer T-shirt the shirt effect.  Also, Colossians 3:17 says...

     "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him."

Therefore, being aware of the example that needs to be set for our members, our community, and especially for the great many persons who we may not be aware are watching us, and the need for good role models in all areas, including dress, the above guidelines should be followed.  These principles will help us perform in an effective manner, without any discomfort or financial hardships, so that we may adequately represent our Lord Jesus Christ and FOJC in all that we say, do, and put on.
